BOOYEAH

Stynkfyst here, long time user, I started using this way back when the ranger made it and started it. He drifted off and you've continued his product. I have to say i dont know what i would do without this UI. Back then i tried them all and nothing compared to the easy set up of Quartz. It's dashboard feel and all the info you could ever need right at yer fingertips. Hotbutton and hte dashboard inventory, then the actions window for melee instead of spells and now my friend, you even outdid yerself again. By adding the clicky addition instead of the pet window, and made it configurable.. It's just so nice to see someone put all this thought and effort into a UI and keep it going. It's not flashy, it's just so easy on the eyes and functional..

Just wanted to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH and please never quit eq hehehe, i'd be lost and confused without this ui...

Quartz

I've been using your UI for about a month now, and I absolutely love it.

There is only 1 problem that I have. Tell windows should be able to be moved. I minimized my spell window once, and could never get it back until I reloged. When I get multiple tells, they tend to pile up and resizing them is kind of a pain. Its okay for the normal chat windows because they will be staying where they are, but the tell windows are temporary.

But other that, I love it.

i have a problem i have no clue how to change the color there is no directory
how do you do it

?
i dunno what mod directory you speak of

-------------------------

By default, Quartz comes configured as following:

Type: Caster
Color: Grey
Buffs: With Buff Names
MP3 Player: Installed (if you want to get rid of the mp3player, delete the
EQUI_MusicPlayerWnd.xml file from the quartz directory)

----------------
Modifying Quartz
----------------

To change features, look in the "mods" directory. Here you will find the following folders:

DashBoard-Inventory : Contains an Inventory Screen that will superimpose over
the HotButtons window. You'll need to set the Alpha
and Faded for the Inventory Window to 100 for this to
look ok.
BuffWindow-WithNames : This folder has the vertical Buff Box with named
Buffs listed. (d)
BuffWindow-WithoutNames : This folder has the horizontal Buff Box with icons only.
GroupWindow-Short : Use this If you are a caster class (with a spell bar), or a
melee class with a Combat Abilities Window. (d)
GroupWindow-Wide : Use this if you do not use spells or a combat abilities window.
SDBuffWindow-WithNames : A new textured Songs window for Quartz (d)
QuartzMusicPlayer-1280x1024 : This is an optional mod for the everquest mp3player for
the 1280x1024 resolution, meant to go above or below the
main chat window. (d)
QuartzMusicPlayer-1600x1200 : Same as above but for the 1600x1200 resolution.

* There is no mp3player mod for 1024x768, it simply won't fit. BUT if you want to use the
* mp3player mod somewhere else on the screen (like at the top) you can still use either
* of the two mp3player mods.

To use these new xml files you need to goto the desired folder and copy the .xml file within to
the uifiles/quartz folder replacing the file that was already there. (Windows will prompt you to
replace the file if its already there, just hit yes.)

To change the background pack, look in the "Background Packs" directory. Here you will find the
following folders:

Quartz Classic : This is the default. Originally designed by Statix.
DS Blue : This is an alternate background pack, by DarkSir23. (Unique to Quartz 1.7.1
and above)
DS Red : Another alternate background pack, by DarkSir23. (Compatible with Quartz 1.9
and above)

WERE do you gwt these directorys?

DoD patch

please please please tell me that this UI will not be one of the ones affected by DoD launch patch, or, alternatively, if it is there'll be a fix for it soon? this UI is like a drug to me.. I dont think I can live without it!!!

Been using my own modiffied version of quartz for years now and have done my own manual changes each time they re-patch UI stuff. I can also tell you that it did NOT work in DoD beta.

I just haven't got off my lazy butt to fix it to do so yet.

There will be an update. I'm fairly confident that Quartz won't work out of the box today, but I will get the update posted as quickly as I can.

Quartz

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE find a functional and astetically pleasing way to fit 2 hotbutton windows in the UI. I have been trying with the normal UI and it's painfully hard to do. I leave it in your capable hands. I love your UI, its the best.

Here's a temporary, workable fix

In the meantime, to have a functional Quartz UI (i.e. no red text upon logging in that says your UI is out of date), simply do the following

Temporarily replace your hot button window UI file in Quartz with the default hot button window:
1 - rename uifiles/Quartz/EQUI_HotButtonWnd.xml to EQUI_HotButtonWnd BACKUP.xml
2 - copy uifiles/default/EQUI_HotButtonWnd.xml to uifiles/Quartz/EQUI_HotButtonWnd.xml

Then login, using your normal Quartz UI, move the hotbutton window (now the default one) to where the Quartz hotbuttons were. Then open your 2nd hotbutton window (use the new EQ menu button to open it) and place it right next to the first hotbutton window you opened. They will both fit in the spot where you previously had your hotbuttons, on 1280x1024, with a minor overlap on the right.

If you desire you can link the bags in your 2nd hotkey bank (in Quartz they were on the bottom of the hotbutton window), so you will not lose any functionality in the meantime.

But thats how to ensure you are "functional" before DarkSir gets to rearchitect the update!
