I also downloaded the Launchpad installer Sony has - and altered the startup string to ["C:\Program Files\Sony\Station\LaunchPad\LaunchPad.exe" /game:everquest] (without the brackets) and behold, Launchpad downloaded EQ skins and started up for EverQuest and it only took 5 minutes - then I was in Norrath. SWEET

Yes, I admit it. The infirmaties of old age are no fun.

When reading the posts yesterday I had my old glasses on and I missed the punctuation in the command line. So I was leaving out the colon :P

Typed the correct syntax this morning and voila, Houston we have liftoff

Fully updated and ready to run in about 5 minutes

I am still lost in where to find and edit any of this. The main problem I am having is that I have my EQ directory set on the F drive, not the C, but it won't let me install the launchpad to the F drive for one, and then I can not figure out how to direct it to the F drive to start up the programs, so unless someone can give a bit more detail on how to get this thing started, then I am gonna leave it alone until it goes live...heh... Happy hunting to you all, and Godspeed.

after installing Launchpad make a shortcut to it on your desktop

then right click on it and select Properties

and on the target line you will see "C:\Program Files\Sony\Station\Launchpad\LaunchPad.exe"

ADD /game:everquest to the end to get

"C:\Program Files\Sony\Station\Launchpad\LaunchPad.exe" /game:everquest

and then run the short cut.

should work then.

Where does a person get the launchpad to try it? Do we log onto the Testserver and run it or is there a download from EQlive's website?

I know this may be a lil "outta line" but...

Has anyone tried to use EQW to run the new Launchpad?

Hi guys.
I never 'installed' EverQuest on this computer. I just copied over a backup of my EverQuest folder.
There are no registry entries. I did a search of the registry just to be sure.

The launchpad patcher does nto give me an option to point it to my EQ folder.

How did you folks get this to work for a directory besides "..\Sony\EverQuest" ?

Is there really anything better from the old start up? I mean what exactly does this do that the current one does not? (sorry for the newbie question)

It allows more information to be passed to the end user. IE the patch-message can be read while the patcher is going, it also allows SOE to do some work on the backend. SWG, Planetside, EQ2 and I think all the freebie games use Launchpad as its core. EQ was just behind in not using it.

For the record, I finally was able to get this to ask me for the location of my EQ directories.

I had to remove the following Registry keys:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\App Paths\eqgame.exe] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\App Paths\everquest.exe]

Then when I ran launchpad again, I recieved a pop-up dialog asking me where my EverQuest directory was.

If you dont want to go into your registry to delete these keys, you can use the attached file.
