Description
Huzzah!!

Thank you, Cannun Natureward.

Everyone can thank %T "Cannun" for helping me figure this one out. Cannun actually sent a revised version of the file to me, however due to email settings, firewall settings, and the fact that Hotmail automatically assumes that any .XML file is a virus, I was unable to download and view Cannuns revision. However thanks to the email explanation that was provided with it, I was able to go in and fix the problem myself. So now I have posted the revision to both this version as well as the 1280 version. I hope everyone who has downloaded these previously and liked them will take the time to redownload them.

NOTE: The groupwindow-idfdlfgonly file is now the only groupwindow version included and has already been renamed groupwindow. As for the 2 different player windows, each are still respectfully named so that you can choose which version to use, if you have a mix of both types please remember you need to place them in the appropriate custom folder and rename by deleting the - and everything that follows it.

I am deeply grateful to Cannun for the explanation they provided which allowed me to learn where my error had been.

Gratefully,

Fyrecaster,
I was approached by one of my guildmates to attempt to resolve an issue with your UI that you were unable to address. The issue I speak of is listing the names of your group members when they are out of the group. The resolution of this issue is to have the names as Gauges with different EQTypes instead of as Labels. I have attached the fix for the EQUI_PlayerWindow-MeleeWithCasting Guage.xml. Hope that helps

Con Color

I love this UI. I installed it and it works, but there is no con color for your target. If someone can modify this so that the target has a con color that would be awesome.

Also the spell cast and abilty usage timer should be 2 seperate bars.

Lastly, I was thinking the tribute and target window should be reversed.

With these changes, this would be the perfect UI. Thanx for making it in the first place.

Smile suggestion

First of all, I love this UI piece. This is by far the best I have seen for the way I like to set up a window. Thank you!

I have four suggestions (one significant, three minor) --- for what it is worth:

Major: I really think the target and HoTT panel (that is currently rar right) should be swapped with the experience panel ... The three heal panels should be close to each other

Minor: The color overlay for the target could be half as high and with a thin or no border -- ir actually gets in the way

Minor: group member names do not appear if the player is not in zone?

Minor: If you ever needed space, you could eliminate the level, title and religion

That said, it is an awesome interface and I really enjoy using it :-)

Us Buffers

In groups that have people comming and going the F2-F6 person isnt always the same... Would like to see peoples names so when someone says in group "Can I get a Virt" I dont have to hit F2 F3 F4 F5 F6 to see who that is...

Re: Can't get it to work

Ok best way to make a custom UI piece work is to create a custom ui folder by right clicking the default file copying, pasting and renaming it, personally I name all my custom files "custom"' "'custom2" and so forth. Now to use this piece you need to unzip the file and can either drag and drop (my preferred method) into the custom file, or you can unzip directly to the file itself (which I do not recommend, because there are 2 EQUI_PlayerWindow pieces located within the download, one for pure melee and the other for hybrids and casters). When you choose to drag and drop into a custom file note which EQUI_PlayerWindow piece you intend to use needs to be renamed to "EQUI_PlayerWindow", if you intend on using both the melee and the hybrid/caster, you will need 2 custom files. Hope this points you in the right direction.

Bugs currently being hunted and exterminated

Thats a very interesting question, the ooc combat timer is part of the natural player window, so no there is not a seperate file for it. I have tried almost everything I can think of, and so far I have come up with a couple of possible answers as to why the combat timer is not working. What I would like to do is without having to post each and every variation, I am working on to solve this problem, is to send the revisions to one or two players that are having the trouble and work with them in resolving the issue of the missing combat timer.

I could very easily make another layover for the spell casting window, however, I am trying to avoid doing that just yet. To address the spell casting bar, yes it is a seperate file, but I have used all the EQTypes and correct pathings for the spell casting section. Really find it bizarre that people are having trouble with that showing up, I have recently removed the "empty casting bar" coding I used to allow for the casting bar to be present when not in use, maybe that was part of the problem.

Anyways anyone who is willing to test the modifications and relay thier findings and a screenshot of window in use (preferrably when you are casting a spell and /or resting screenshots) please send me a personal message where I can email the changes to you directly.

Thanks
Arylun "Ary" Fyrecaster

secondly, is there a file like that for the Combat timer? I have removed this file from my computer, and re downloaded and re-installed it and still no luck with the combat timer working.

I don't even get the picture or anything telling me what state I am in.

Missing Casting Gage and ranting.

Thanks for the prompt reply. It is never my intention to rant or appear to. Heck, I can't see complaining to someone attempting to do something that I can't do myself. Always my intention to attempt to help. Like the window array, works in nice with the rest of the UI I've cobbled together and would love to see it working as intended. Anything I can do to further that end, please feel free to ask.

Re: Missing Casting Gauge

You make a very good point here, with the layovers being clear instead of opaque, that was intentionally done for the following reason. If you place the player window where you want it first and lock it into place, then place the layovers in thier proper place over the player window and lock them down as well they stay in the foreground. I have done this on both mine and my wifes comps as well as several of our rl friends who play and none of us have had problems with the order of the windows getting mixed up. Again though you make a very good point, I am just saying if its done properly then there shouldnt be a problem.

As to why the casting bar and timer are not working on other systems I havent figured that part out yet, I am looking into it though. My problem on this issue is that people are saying that they dont work at all, even after the disclaimer saying that they work fine on my system where the ui was built. Once I figure out what and where the problem is for this it will be fixed. I just ask that people not go off on /rants (many personal messages with players ranting on this subject) when they apparently either did not read the disclaimer or look at the screen shots.

All in all though I thank you for the approach you took towards this UI problem, you made your point without it sounding like a jab. I am working on fixing the problem is all I can say, and when it is fixed it will be posted.

Layovers are there, but folks may have a problem finding them as they are clear and not opaque. They may be hidden behind other windows that aren't faded. [/B]

Missing Casting Gauge

Sorry Friend,

I can't dispute the fact that in your screen shot the casting gauge is operating, but I can tell you what I've done here and what the results have been.
1) have created a seperate ui folder with just this modification in it.
2) renamed the proper player window (equi_playerwindow.xml)
Then load up EQ and change to the the new UI folder.
I'm a committed boxer, so have done this on two machines and in both cases the result was the same.
Everything functions perfectly except the casting gauge.

Just so everyone else who wants to say that the layover files aren't there, I am quashing that myth now. The layover files are the normal files for group window and for target window, the difference being is I have made all the non-pertinent information in the windows hidden out of view. You have to place the following 2 files (EQUI_GroupWindow and EQUI_TargetWindow) into your custom directory for the layovers to work. If you do not place those files in, or have them turned off in game, you will not have the benefit of the Layover pieces.

Secondly, I have said it before and will say it again, the casting bar and ooc timer work perfectly on my system, where the UI piece was created, works on my wifes system as well, so I am not sure what your problem is, but if you have looked at the screen shots I provided you will see that they work.

Lastly I know that the files for the layover were there because after seeing the original post of this message I decided to download the file myself, lo and behold I found EQUI_GroupWindow.xml and EQUI_TargetWindow.xml in the download.
