Description
I wanted a UI that was as close to invisible as possible, but still give me the information that I need to play. HaedarUI is the result of that effort.

Installation notes:

1. Unzip and place the HaeldarUI folder under uifiles (c:\program files\sony\everquest\uifiles\)
*Be sure that you don't have c:\program files\sony\everquest\uifiles\HaeldarUI\HaeldarUI or it won't work*

2. Copy the EQUI_PlayerWindow.xml file of your choice from either "PlayerWindow_Full_Stats", "PlayerWindow_Reduced_Stats", or "PlayerWindow_No_Stats" to the main HaeldarUI folder (the default is
full stats so skip this step if that's what you want).

3. Copy the .ini file of your choice from the "Window Position Files" folder to your everquest folder and rename it to match your character name and server (ex. UI_Haeldar_Combine.ini for Haeldar on Combine).

I've included a few different .ini files that you can use for various window placements for both 1024 and 1280 wide screens. If you'd rather make your own layout, just don't use my .ini files and position the windows where you like.

Hotkey bars 1 and 2 are 5x2 horizontal. Hotkey bars 3 and 4 are 1x10 vertical.

I use chat windows with thin borders and no title bars, they are resizable. I personally set mine to fade to 0 and set the /chatfontsize 5 (shown in the screenshots), but you can change that by going to each chat window and typing /chatfontsize <number> (3 is average size).

I'd like to give credit to the author of DoomEQ for inspiration on the bottom bars and to Egras. I used Egras' .xml files a lot for reference and used his excellent EQUI_TargetWindow.xml to make the little sword /con thingy. If you are looking for a UI with more goodies on screen, his UI is probably a better fit.

I'm attaching a few screenshots. The first shows a 1024 x 768 layout. The second shows 1280 x 1024 with Hotkey 3 & 4 windows active. The third shows 1280 x 1024 with the pet buff window and pet health bar (bottom half of player health bar). The fourth shows various example bottom window layouts for both 1024 and 1280 wide screens.

I welcome any feedback.

Edit for clarity.

By chance did the updates include the rest state icon? I think that is the major thing missing from this UI to make it TSS compatible (though it still functions without it of course). Personally I've gotten used to using Sars again (the one I used before haeldar) and am not sure I could get used to a different one though if any of em could draw me away from Sars it'd be this one.

Update for TSS?

Hi all,
I found this UI just before TSS came out. I had came back to EQ specifically because of TSS. I really like this UI as it fits my minimalist style. I can set it up for raid functionality easily and not have to run in 1600x1200 mode to fit it all on the screen! It just does what is needed with a minimum of space required to "get it done". Gotta love it!
I really hope this UI gets updated soon!

Aye, I'd love an update for this UI as well. As far as I can tell the player window is the only thing that needs updating (though I'm by no means an expert in these things). Any plans on updating it to wrk with TSS?

My 2 cents

First off, I just wanted to say that I love this UI, but naturally I can't leave well enough alone. I took out the endurance bar since as a Paladin, I really never have a good reason to pay close attention to it, and I replaced it with a HoTT. Then I extended the hotbar1 window slightly and built in a tiny inventory.

Only reason I'm telling you this is because I had some of the same (extrememly small) complaints others did, and from the looks of the posts, I did what a few people suggested, but without getting the idea from here, lol. Great minds think alike I hope?

Thanks for all the effort on this UI though, I would have never had figured out how to do all this on my own.

Changing spell gem window

First, I love this UI. But i would like to use a different CastSpellWnd. Whenever I take it out of the HaeldarUI folder, or try to replace it with another one, I get the default ui.

The UIErrors.txt gives this for the last few lines:
Code:
[Fri Jul 07 21:14:13 2006] Warning: file EQUI_AuraWnd.xml not found in directory UIFiles\HaeldarCasterUI\. Attempting to use file from Default skin. [Fri Jul 07 21:14:15 2006] XML reference error! Ui2DAnimation[6]:My_SpellGemHolder[606] referenced but NEVER declared! XML reference error! Ui2DAnimation[6]:My_SpellGemBackground[607] referenced but NEVER declared! XML reference error! Ui2DAnimation[6]:My_SpellGemHighlight[608] referenced but NEVER declared! [Fri Jul 07 21:14:15 2006] Error validating symbol table. [Fri Jul 07 21:14:15 2006] Error loading skin: loading default skin instead.

What step am I missing?

Thanks

How about overlaying the Mana/Endurance bar with HoTT similar to the way you have the target overlaying the Exp meters? Perhaps make it a thin draggable window that you can move it based on preference?

Or allow even a seperate target window not integrated into the player bar, I tried editing the player bar to remove the targeting feature but wasnt successful and if i added another target window all its own the ui wouldnt load. I love the ui but not having a hott bar... well i dont use this ui.

I also can't close UI windows. The only thing I've been able to do is reload the default UI with my config file, close what I need, then reload this one.

If you right click a text window the "close" option is just greyed out.

Hmm... I'm not sure what happened that made you lose the character select screen. None of the files in the UI do anything with that screen. Wish I knew what to tell you, but I've never seen that happen before.

Just delete the EQUI_ChatWindow.xml file from the HaeldarUI folder and it will use the default windows. They'll have borders that match the rest of the UI. Hope that helps.
