Description
tessilUI
by Tessil DeMill - Ayonae Ro

A compact player, group, and target window modification that puts critical status information heads-up, without being too minimalist or taking to uncessary screen space.

Based upon grpwindow-squares(loy fixed).zip by dedara.

Windows Modified:
EQUI_GroupWindow.xml
EQUI_PlayerWindow.xml
EQUI_TargetWindow.xml

INSTALLATION

1. Unzip the contents of this file to the "uifiles" directory. The
default location for this directory is
"C:\Program Files\EverQuest\uifiles". This should create a sub-directory
in the "uifiles" directory called "tessilUI" containing the contents of
this archive.

2. Depending on how you choose to load the UI (using the command-line,
or the GUI) do ONE of the following (a OR b):

a) In-game, type (without the quotes): "/loadskin tessilUI true".

b1) In-game, from the Window Selector, choose "Options" (or the
default ALT-O hotkey)
b2) In the Options Window, select the "General" tab.
b3) Press the "Load UI Skin" button.
b4) Select "tessilUI" from the Skins Window and press the "Load Skin"
button.

3. The screen will blank for a few moments (as if your character were
zoning), and the new interface should appear.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Errors that occurred on the last UI load are contained in the
"UIError.txt" file (located in "C:\Program Files\EverQuest" by default).
Warnings are normal. Errors are not.

Player Name Alignment

The alignment of the player's first and last names in the Player
Window is a bit of an ugly hack. The first and last names of the
player are hardcoded onto the Player_HP gauge (EQType 1), with the
first and last names on separate lines. There is no EQType for player
first and last name on the same line.

What this mod does is move the label for the gauge upwards and to the
right, to move the first name out of the frame, and then adds another
player first name label to the left of the last name. Which puts both
names on the same line, but causes either gap or overlap problems,
depending on how long the player's names are.

There are a few choices for resolving alignment problems with the
player name:

a) Just ignore it. Simplest, but least satisfying.

b) Increase the spacing between the two labels. In the
EQUI_PlayerWindow.xml file, find the <Gauge item="Player_HP"> tag
(near the top of the file), then proceed down to the
<TextOffsetX>40</TextOffsetX> tag. Increase this number (try
small increments of 2-5 units) until you achieve the desired
spacing.

c) Allow the player's last name to overlap the long HP gauge. In the
EQUI_PlayerWindow.xml file, find the <Gauge item="Player_HP"> tag
(near the top of the file), then proceed down to the
<TextOffsetX>40</TextOffsetX> tag. Set TextOffsetX to 0 and the
TextOffsetY on the next line to 3. Then find the
<Label item="Player_Name"> element and delete it up to and
including the next </Label> tag (about 23 lines of text). Last,
at the end of the file, delete the "<Pieces>Player_Name</Pieces>"
line.
